How can I keep the dome lights in my 98 Jeep grand cherokee from coming on?

My dome lights blink on and off in my 98 jeep GC, and they'll sometimes stay on after I turn my car off. I don't want to kill my battery, is there anyway to get them to stay off?|||All you have to do is remove the dome light bulbs. Then they definately wont come on. Good luck!|||Hold the reset button in an turn key to run not start when u do this then releast the reset button an the G.E.M. modual will go through a series of test and u can watch everything move..when it stops be ready to write down what ever codes it dissplayes..more than likly it a sticking door switch, try lubercating inside door latch with WD-40 and go from there...good luck|||It's probably a bad door switch, most likely the driver's door. It should just thread right out with a socket. if you want to be sure that you don't drain your battery until you can fix it you can just pull the dome light fuse out.|||close the door|||simple and handy... the switch from the dome light has 3 positions (99% of the cases), (and your 98 jeep is surely in that 99%)

let's name those positions 0,1 and 2.

0 means off

1 means "dome lights on (ALWAYS)"

2 means "dome lights on when one/more door/s is/are open/ed"

most of the people use the dome lights in position 2. however in your case it's not suitable to leave the switch on 2. try using 0 and when you need light in your car (to search the keys, mobile phone, etc) use 1 but don't forget after you found your keys, mobile phone, etc to switch it back to 0.
