How much of a lift can I put on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport without upgrading the gears and drivetrain?

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport and I want to put a lift on it and maybe some boggers, but I want to keep the most of it stock. How would I go about lift it and how much of a lift could I get without getting different gears and drivetrain?|||Well your jeep is equipped with a 8.25 Chrysler rearend and a Dana 30 up front with 355 gear stock. A 33" tire will be ok for a while but will put alot of stress on your transfercase, transmission, axles and u joints and will wear them out quickly. If you wan to stick with the stock gear i wouldnt recommend anything larger than a 31" maybe just maybe a 32", but 31 would probably be your choice because bigger than that will ruin your gas milage VERY BAD. You can clear 31" tires with a 3" lift perfectly and will offroad great. Hope this helps|||31" tires and a 3" lift will rub. Any bigger then that gears should be changed, will really help with gas milage.

|||24" lift should be fine.....

if you are running stock tires.

You change the gear ration depending on the size of tires...

check this chart out on my website to help you...

Any bigger tires than that your going to have to do some changing.|||Should be able to 3 3 1/2" without too much extra work. The drivetrain mods usually come when you put on much larger tires and try to keep performance at stock levels or better. Everything you have now should live ok with the biggest tires you could put on at the 3 1/2 lift range, which should be 31 inch tires,,, HTH
