I have to floor my jeep just to get it to move from a stop. I think the transmission might be going out but I don't know if something else might be causing it. Please help. Thank you!|||IT IS DUE TO YOU VEHICLE TAKING OFF IN 2ND GEAR YOU PROBABLY HAVE TRANNY CODES SUCH AS GOV PRESS SENSOR OR GOV SOL . OR MAYBE EVEN A SKEWED VSS ON THE OD UNIT ALL OF THESE WILL PUT THE PCM IN FAILSAFE AND GIVE YOU SECOND GEAR STARTS.|||One of these is more than likely the issue here.
- Bad spark plugs/wires. One is fouling causing the engine to mis-fire which results in poor acceleration and overall performance.
- Clogged Fuel lines, more than likely at the fuel filter which is either on the fuel rail, or by your tank on the fuel line.
- Bad IAC(Idle Air Control Sensor) If this is bad you'll notice it has poor idle as well as acceleration.
Your transmission is fine, if this was the culprit you would've just destroyed it or a driveshaft. Its symptoms of your engine, either minor maintenance or a sensor going back which usually will throw a CEL(Check Engine Light). Any local parts store will have a computer testing device to read a code to locate which part is needing replacement.
Good luck|||If it was running rich because of a bad oxygen sensor, the rich mixture will destroy the catalytic converter which will clog your exhaust. If your exhaust rattles when you run it, this is probably your problem being almost ten years old, with the original exhaust.
Otherwise, it is your intake. Change your air filter and try a tune-up.
A bad transmission will usually slips before it fails completely.
Try the easy fixes first, before trying anything else.|||When was the last time you took it in for an oil change?
This includes: changing the old oil, the oil filter AND the air filter!
Take it in for an oil change %26amp; see if it is still having the same problem...|||Try moving out of first gear
