How much does it cost to replace a head gasket on a jeep wrangler?

1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ 2.5l 4 cyl 5 speed. I am looking into buying this guy's wrangler but he says it has a coolant leak at the head gasket. Should i not buy this or should i fix it, if i fix it, around how much would a shop charge me.|||Just to replace the head gasket, change the oil and filter and refill with coolant should be between $525.00 and $700.00 depending on where you take it.

If you do it yourself, you can do it for around $200.00 or so.

I would suggest getting the head reworked while it's off though. This could run another $250.00 or so.

Hope this helps and good luck|||$500-1000, but this can be yourself for $250

Rebuild the heads professionally

new gaskets, synthetic oil, torqued to specs

good as new|||if thats all thats wrong with then id buy it. and its a very easy cheap fix|||Because of any possible added damage, I would never buy a car with a bad head gasket. Not worth the money or the problems. Usually when you have a head gasket go, it's because someone let the engine overheat and there is almost certainly other damage.|||Do It

Yourself 12 hours

to fix

Take it to a Service Shop

to fix

$79.05/hr labor: $592.88 parts: $296.59 From $889.47|||well first off make sure the car turns over as in it acts like it will start but dosent or if it does it will blow white smoke.cars when they over heat can leak water into the cumbustion chambers and cause rust and the motor to sieze upwhich means it wont turn in that case i would not buy it due to you will have to replace the motor.if its not seized and really does need only head gasket,a shop will charge around 1000-1800 dollars.well here in california anyhow.I charge at my shop 500but i am a mechanic also but my specialty is autobody and paint.so I guess if it turns over it is not seized but when a car over heats it can effect the trans, and water cooling system, so it one of them cases where you should be careful. If it was me depending on the condition modification if any and miles and it being a 93 unless i was getting it for like 300-4-- i would not buy it cause after you put the money in to fix your looking at easy 1600 hundred for the car now think if it was running will it be worth 2000 . good luck hope i helped some how
