Can a subwoofer and amp be installed in a 2008 jeep compass with a factory stereo?

I have a 2008 jeep compass with a factory cd player. Can a subwoofer and an amp be installed with that current set up?|||You can splice the RCA jacks into a speaker wire going to one of the stock speakers. That's how I do mine when I want to keep a stock head unit.
