What kind of oil should I use with a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport?

It has 4 wheel drive and it is automatic transmission. Thanks.|||Use one of the high mileage oils. Stay away from Pennzoil and Quaker State as they seem to build up sludge in older engines. 10W30 in summer and 5W30 in winter.

Hope these answered your question.|||I use Formula 1, 10W-30 all year. best results.|||i would summize it is over 100,000 miles? if it is the 4.0 liter 6 cylinder then you should EASILY get over 200,000 miles out of it if not much more. In my humble opinion based on having owned 3 similair cherokees, i would suggest first to use 'slick 50' %26amp; then to use 10w-30 or 5w-30. Use the 5w if it leaks or burns more oil. Lastly, i would strongly suggest to not use any oil that is synthetic because they have smaller molecules and thus will leak easier in a high mileage engine that was manufactured that many years ago.|||it depends idk what you did with your owners manual but it would tell you in there otherwise it depends jeep made 2 diffrent engines for the cherokee but im guessing you have the 4.0 six cylinder witch takes 5-6 quarts of 10-w-30 you could put 10-w-40 but 30 will do the only difference is 10-w-40 is a thicker oil
