What could the problems be if Jeep Cherokee was smoking and green liquid was coming out of radiator?

My daughter was driving to school this morning in a 1994 Grand Jeep Cherokee (?) Comanche (?). She said green liquid was coming out of the car and it was smoking. What are the best and worst case possibilities and related costs? Any suggestions on the cheapest way to repair this? What about driving it home or to a repair shop? One repair guy told me the engine could be ruined. Another guy told me to turn on the heater, open the windows, and watch the heat guage. Don't have a lot of money. Thanks!|||a radiator, a radiator hose, or a water pump could have failed. do not drive the vehicle have it towed to a repair shop and have them give you an estimate on what it will cost to repair.|||green fluid is anti-freeze. "Smoking" is probably steam not smoke from the antifreeze hitting hot exhaust or engine parts. Start simple, look for leaky hoses, and leaky seal by the water pump. Check your overflow container and see how much antifreeze it has. Also, drive it and see what the temp does if it goes over 220 you have problems. could be as simple as a hose, could be a water pump, could be a gasket, but I would bet your engine is not ruined, but I would really investigate this further before driving it around alot.|||Either need a new radiator ~ aprox $150-$200 ~ or a new upper or lower hose ~ aprox $8- $10 each ~

DONT DRIVE IT or you risk your entire engine. You're car can't run without coolant, or it will overheat and crack the block, then you will have to shell out about $2000+ to get a new engine.|||It was overheated. Depending how long it was driven "hot" delegates if the engine ahs damage to it. Driving a vehicle hot can cause a cracked head or engine problems. I was told up and down that cherokees have ehads that dont crack.. BS mine sure did! good luck!|||The leak you describe is leaking antifreeze. If vehicle has not overheated there should be no engine damage, however you need to get to source of leak. Could be as simple as a bad radiator hose or water pump going etc. Take to a AAA rated garage with ASE certified mechanics for free estimates to fix.|||that green liquid is anti-freeze. probably the thermostat is stuck closed and the anti-freeze is probably getting on the outside of the radiator(which is hot) and smoking.|||Leaking antifreeze and overheating. Pray it's just a hose...that won't cost too much.|||this means that u have a cracked radiator or a no good hose
