We have replaced several parts on out 1997 Jeep cherokee and it continues to cut off any suggestions?

The jeep stalls out and sputters and then just cuts off. We have taken it to be placed on a diagnostic machine and it has said that the o2 sensor needed to be replaced and the TPS sensor as well. We have replaced all of these parts and it acts like it is fixed for a day or two and then we have the same problems again. We have also replaced the ignition coil and the fuel regulator, but we are still having the same problem.|||Very easy! I have owned my Cherokee since new in 1995 and it is approaching 260,000 miles, so I have some experience tinkering with it. You have one of two possible failures.

A) Crankshaft Position Sensor. Located at the top of the transmission bellhousing on the drivers side. A little trick to change, but doable by a semi-amatuer!

B) Camshaft Position Sensor. Located inside the Distributor. Easy to change.

Buy them both and carry a spare for the future under the back seat!

Later, Bruce|||is there any more symptoms? smells, fells like - reasons being this is so vague I could tell you a thousand things that would make it stall.

Check engine light? BTW they do this for free at the local parts store.

Back to basics. You need 3 things to get a engine started air, fuel, and spark. Of course there are alot of components involved in these very basic forms, I was hoping for more symptoms. |||Check your fuel pressure with a gauge and see if you are having a fluctuating pressure you may have a fuel pump going out or you may have blockage in fuel delivery. you could also have injectors that are plugged |||Buy a new car.
